The eclectic swimwear collection by Brooklyn-based Roger Gary has garnered standing ovation over 30 years, since the couturier began his career in Guyana, cutting from colorful fabrics to complete stunning male and female ensembles.
His Aqua Couture Collection, now one of the most sought after lines in the Caribbean and around the world, will once again be on the runway when the 8th Annual Summer Sizzle Fashion and Lifestyle, begins on July 13 and ends July 18.
The Global Glamor Runway show will be held at the Multi Purpose Complex, on Road Town in Tortola, surrounded by exotic flora, white sandy beaches, and blue waters of the British Virgin Islands.
Gary, a fashion designer, extraordinaire, who has taken on the skillful job of backstage production along with founder of Summer Sizzle, and President of Signature by Terry Donovan Events, Tortola native, Terry Donovan will present his new collection.
The fashion innovator said the main colors of the new collection would showcase silver and white, and black and white with a pop of color.
“The silhouette is signature Aqua Couture sexy, and includes bikinis, maillot and silk chiffon cover ups,” said Gary whose collections have graced the stage of past New York’s of 7th on Sixth Fashion events in Manhattan.
In addition to lighting up the catwalk of Fashion Week presentations throughout the Caribbean, Curaçao, and Guyana’s 50th Independence Jubilee, Gary has dressed high society and contestants of Miss World Guyana, Miss University Guyana and Miss Guyana New York.
The show, to be hosted by Nigel Barker, world-renowned photographer, author, TV personality and former judge from “America’s Next Top Model” and “The Face,” will also welcome mega star Taraji P. Henson of the hit show “Empire.”
Gary will join a bevy of other designers, to present pieces from urban to evening and bridal. They include Roland Mouret, Yami Katsura, Duro Olowu, Maria Cornejo, Prism, Capara, Tome, and Cesar Galindo.
Donovan said he has planned a fun and exciting weekend for visitors to the BVI. Travellers will enjoy a Launch Party at Myetts, a Welcome Culture & Style Party at Tortola Pier, a Style Week BVI Shopping event, the Gold & White Fashion Gala, and a Sailing Excursion & Beach BBQ party.
