Among the scores of conflicts that surround the West Indies Cricket Board many of them are unresolved and therefore it is necessary for an independent body to be appointed to deal with those issues. The WICB is at odds with several cricketers and the West Indies Players Association.
Court battles with the West Indies Players Association have been constant and this situation just puts West Indies cricket more in the dungeon. It seems as if the WICB and the WIPA cannot agree on anything.
An independent body of nine persons should be appointed to investigate and solve disputes between the WICB, its players and their association.
Private Sector Involvement
Four of the nine members on the committee must come from the private sector. The manner in which West Indies cricket is managed falls too low to gain success on the field. Petty incidents should be solved quickly and not left to simmer.
Chris Gayle Incident
When the WICB summoned Chris Gayle to appear before them, that matter should have been settled at that meeting and the former captain should have continued playing cricket for the West Indies. The Jamaica Cricket Board must intensify its efforts to get Gayle playing for the West Indies once more. The Jamaica Cricket Board must be the go-between to bring this long drawn out upheaval to an end.
The Jamaica Cricket Board should put this matter at ease with diligent efforts to persuade the WICB and Gayle to show a more meaningful effort in solving this bitter situation. At this rebuilding stage of West Indies cricket, it is of great importance to have the experienced Gayle back in the West Indies squad. The West Indies faces Australia in less than three weeks.
Barbados Defeats CCC By 189 Runs
Barbados pacers Kemar Roach and Jino Best bowled extremely well against the Combined Colleges and Campuses. CCC was bowled out for 145 and 141 respectively. In CCC’s first inning, Roach picked up 4 for 49 and Best 4 for 33. In the second inning, Roach got 4 for 35 and Best 3 for 32. Barbados scored 237 and 238 respectively.

The Windward Islands was bowled out for 259 runs in their second inning with their captain top-scoring with 88. Darren Sammy and Narine continued their good form with 5 wickets for 72 runs in the second inning getting match figures of 10 wickets for 121 runs. Trinidad and Tobago in their second inning reached 98 for 6 winning the game by 4 wickets.
T&T Defeats Windwards
A magnificent 151 not out from Trinidad and Tobago Captain Denish Ramdin propelled his team to 364 for 9 declared in the first inning against the Windward Islands. Darren Bravo scored 64, Jason Mohammed 28 and Imran Khan 24.

Keddy Lespor with 84 and Devon Smith 34, carried their team from 30 for 2 to 119 before Sunil Narine removed Devon Smith. The remaining seven wickets went down for 84 runs. Narine picked up 5 for 49 from (28.1 overs) and pacer Shannon Gabriel 3 for 61.
