Council Member Jumaane Williams, in collaboration with Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, St. Jerome’s Catholic Church and Community Board 17, held a Disaster Relief Donation Drive for those people who lost everyting in the Flatbush fire at 342 East 29th St. on Feb. 19.
Since Council Member Williams’ Disaster Relief meeting which took place Tuesday, Feb. 22, the council member and his staff have worked to help all the displaced residents by collecting clothing donations, toiletries, non-perishable food items and toys.
“I am proud to report there have been numerous donations made to help these residents in their time of need, but there is much more work to be done. My office and I are calling for more donations of non-perishable food items, toiletries, clothing donations and toys. Anything you can contribute will help. We thank you in advance for answering the call to help those less fortunate,” said Council Member Williams.
St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, 2806 Newkirk Ave., between East 28 & 29 streets, Brooklyn will be the drop off point for donations. Donations can be delivered from Monday – Friday 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Please call (718) 469-45125 for more information.
