This Saturday, Flatbush politicians — Assemblywoman Rodneyse Bichotte (D–Flatbush), state Sen. Kevin Parker (D–Kensington), and Councilman Jumaane Williams (D–East Flatbush), are inviting their constituents to attend a free citizenship workshop.
The City University of New York’s legal assistance group, CUNY Citizenship Now, will be hosting a free citizenship assistance event at Flatbush YMCA on Dec. 8. Permanent residents, or green card holders, will learn how to apply to become naturalized citizens and if they meet the requirements.
The three-hour event will have various legal assistants there to help qualified candidates apply. Applicants should be 18-years-old and over, and must have either have been a green card holder for five years or married to a citizen for three years.
They should also bring their green card and passports they have used within the last five years, and ready information about their employment, children, marriage, if applicable, and a certificate off disposition if you’ve been arrested.
