Cricket West Indies (CWI) selectors have blanked batting superstar Chris Gayle for the four-match Twenty20 series against Pakistan which bowls off later this month.
Experienced all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has also been left out the 15-man squad.
The left-handed Gayle did not play in the three-match series against Pakistan last September in the United Araba Emirates (UAE) after advising selectors he was unavailable.
CWI release offered no explanation for Gayle’s omission from the team, which will be led again by all-rounder Carlos Braithwaite.
Jamaican Gayle has been a key member of the West Indies Twenty20 squad and remains one of the world’s premier batsmen in the game’s shortest format.
Gayle has already scored 10,000 runs in Twenty20s and has two centuries.
Bravo, who played in the last series in the UAE, was extremely critical of the CWI following the 3-0 whitewash in the UAE, saying that their abrupt firing of Coach Phil Simmons had demoralized the team.
