Cricket West Indies (CWI) has appointed former West Indies captain Shivnarine Chanderpaul to be an ambassador for the upcoming ICC Women’s World Twenty20 to be played in the Caribbean.
Chanderpaul, 44, has joined the Windies Ambassador Program, and along with other selected ambassadors, will make a variety of appearances between September and November.
The ICC Women’s World Twenty20 championship will be held in the region from Nov. 9 to 24 and will feature 10 of the world’s best teams. The Windies women are the defending champions.
Chanderpaul, who started playing for the West Indies at the age of 19 and led them in 14 Tests and 16 ODIs, said it is another great opportunity to serve his country.
The ICC Women’s Twenty20 will be held at the Providence Ground in Guyana, the Darren Sammy Stadium in St. Lucia and the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.
