Since 1990, the dominant source for local news, commentary, politics, sports, arts, and culture for the Caribbean community in New York City has been Caribbean Life. The weekly tabloid is the largest of its kind in the U.S., and its website, CaribbeanLife.com, has continued the role online, informing Caribbean New Yorkers about what’s going on back home and in their adopted city.
Its publisher, Schneps Media — which publishes amNY, Brooklyn Paper, QNS.com, Bronx Times and dozens of other local news sites, magazines, and events — is looking for a Vice President of Sales/Publisher, a candidate who can represent the publication in the community to develop relationships and sell advertising.
Schneps is looking for a candidate who has:
- Familiarity with the Caribbean communities in New York City
- Strong sales and presentation skills
- Strong work ethic
- Passion for local media
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A team player attitude with the ability to seamlessly work with others
- Knowledge of digital media
About Caribbean Life
New York is the Caribbean capital of the world. Of the ten largest foreign-born populations in the city, six are from Caribbean countries, representing the largest and most diverse Caribbean community outside of the Caribbean itself.
With the unmistakable yellow-and-orange branding, Caribbean Life reflects the population’s energy and ambitions, and so will the publisher. With a commitment to stories and services, the VP/publisher will have a direct line to the nation’s largest concentration of Caribbean people.
