Diamond Noir Collective, in collaboration with the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) will host the 2011 Caribbean International Fashion Week (CIFW).
The premier fashion event is a showcase for pre-eminent designers from Caribbean nations to debut their summer lines. It will be held Wednesday, June 8, at Arena, 135 West 41st Street (between 6th Avenue & Broadway). Showtime is at 7:00 p.m.
In celebration of Caribbean American Heritage Month, this inaugural fashion show is part of the city’s 2011 Caribbean Week. CIFW will raise funds for the CTO Foundation, whose primary focus is to provide scholarships to Caribbean nationals who aspire to engage in philanthropic projects.
The event also aims to empower Caribbean designers, highlighting their contributions to the industry and branding the Caribbean as a global player in culture, tourism and fashion.
International models from the Caribbean and nations worldwide will don creations from designers, including award-winning Queen Esther – Kuumba Designs (St. Lucia), Theodore Elyett (Bahamas), Jewel Shannon (Barbados), Rebecca Beck (Curacao), Charles Dieujuste (Haiti), Lucia Rodrigues (Dominican Republic), Simon Duncan (Trinidad), Kazz Forbs (Turks & Caicos) and many more.
The event will feature a grand red carpet affair with a bevy of celebrities, followed by a VIP cocktail reception and live music.
