In a packed room last Tuesday, at Broadway Stages, on Banker Street, Brooklyn Democratic Party Chair, Assemblywoman Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn boisterously spoke to the crowd at the party’s Annual December Gala and Toy Drive.
“Brooklyn is the political powerhouse; and, next year, we’re going to make Hakeem Jeffries the House Speaker,” said Bichotte Hermelyn, the daughter of Haitian immigrants, who represents the 42nd Assembly District in Brooklyn.
“We’re going to keep Chuck as our Senate Majority Leader, and keep our entire nation Blue,” she added.
Beyond shoring up support and unity for the 2024 elections, Bichott Hermelyn told Caribbean Life that she was elated that the event collected an overwhelming amount of holiday toys to be distributed throughout the borough by district leaders.
She said her office is accepting donations of unwrapped toys for children of all ages, which will be distributed to those in need in the community.
“We deeply thank all who have donated so far, including our contributing sponsors: The Community, Uncommon Schools and MetroPlus Health,” Bichotte Hermelyn said.
