King George probably will likely not take the throne of the British kingdom until late in the millennium but the reigning queen of pop in America arrived at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn and was greeted as a home-girl with cheers that echoed “Hey, Miss Carter!”
On a New York stop from her whirlwind “Mrs. Carter Show World Tour 2013” Texas-born Beyonce Giselle Knowles-Carter reveled in being the reigning queen of pop. Even more alluring was the fact she implored the sold-out crowds to the three-night event to say “Hey Miss Carter.”
They echoed the single lady title and transformed the arena into an echo chamber.
“Hey Miss Carter!” “Hey Mizzzzz Carter!” “Heeeeyyyy Missss Carter!”
Miss or Mrs., Beyonce seemed in charge and on top.
She packed a wardrobe to closet a palace.
Her entourage included dancers — Les Twins, The Mamas, a trio of backup singers, a 10-piece all-girl band led by the electrifying guitarist Bibi McGill and a team of pyro-technicians that marveled, dazzled and wowed a capacity crowd of 19,000 with standing room only on the floor where the Nets play.
That her husband was a part-owner of the spectacular franchise seemed a back story to the allure that flooded Flatbush and Atlantic Avenues as fans greeted the singer, songwriter, actress, dancer, wife and mother who sold out three nights of summer revelry in the county of Kings.
And although Brooklyn has rarely been on the on itineraries of some of America’s music royalties – Prince, Tina Turner, Michael Jackson etc – Queen Bey has almost been a regular to the borough.
