Barbados crowned Super 50 champion

The Barbados senior cricket team defeated Trinidad and Tobago by 17 runs at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad in the final of the Nagico Super50 Caribbean tournament on Sunday, Feb. 16. Some outstanding batting and bowling performances by the Barbados team won them the crown.

BARBADOS SCORED 252 RUNS IN 48.4 OVERS

Dwayne Smith and Kraigg Brathwaite did a remarkable job for their team by putting up a partnership of 127 runs for the first wicket. Dwayne Smith was the attacker in swashbuckling style scoring 83 runs from 77 balls with 10 fours and two sixes, Jonathan Carter 49, Kraigg Brathwaite 36 and Sulieman Benn 22.

Kevon Cooper picked up 4 wickets for 62 runs from 9.4 overs, Sunil Narine 2 wicket for 18 runs from 10 overs and Lendl Simmons 2 for 23 from 5 overs.

Trinidad and Tobago Scored 235 runs all out in 45.5 overs

Denesh Ramdin with 68 from 76 balls and Rayad Emrit 27 stood up for their team while the other batsmen failed miserably as Barbados bowlers kept the pressure on. Carlos Brathwaite penetrated the Trinidad and Tobago batting getting 4 wickets for 44 runs from 10 overs, Sulieman Benn 2 for 29 off 9 overs and Jason Holder 2 for 30 off 8 overs. Barbados won the Clive Floyd trophy. Dwayne Smith was named man of the match and best batsman of the Nagico Super50 tournament.
