The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority recently launched a romantic all-inclusive giveaway competition for couples. To observe the month of June as their obligatory month of romance, the agency is going to award two couplings with a chance for a three-night stay at their Sugar Ridge and South Point hotels, said a spokeswoman for the agency.
“For the month of June every year we celebrate romance month, and Antigua and Barbuda is the only destination to actually have an entire month dedicated to romance and couples, and we’re essentially the romance capital of the Caribbean — we do romance like nobody else,” said Shermain Jeremy.
The twin-island nation has won the World Travel Awards as the region’s most romantic destination since 2015. And they hope to win it again this year.
“We’ve won that award for three consecutive years in a row and we hope to have a four time repeat this year,” she added.
And they are aiming to showcase two of their idyllic resorts for tourists, particularly pairings that are interested in the country to celebrate their nuptials.
“For romance month it’s all about highlighting our romantic attributes, and what we have to offer couples both on the wedding side and honeymoon side,” she added. “So this year our big thing is these two very exciting sweepstakes being hosted on two separate social media platforms.”
The two contests are being held simultaneously on FaceBook and Instagram. Entry requirements ask for couples to share, comment, and like posts to certify a spot in being considered. Jeremy says the two campaigns will be ongoing until July 4, and the agency will prize two couples with all-inclusive stays at two of their best resorts.
The prize is a three-night stay at one of the lodges, airfare included, travel VIP privileges, and transportation to and from the hotel are included in the package, according to Jeremy.
“Our Antigua and Barbuda romance is a giveaway to spend three nights at the Sugar Ridge Hotel, and on Instagram the trip there is at one of our new properties — South Point Hotel,” she said. “It’s on the historic side of island, and not a lot of people know about it one of our beautiful romantic hotels. It’s a hidden treasure.”
And all month, couples who have booked trips to the country for a special occasion will earn the opportunity to access special advantages, added Jeremy.
“One big thing also happening for this month is any couple traveling to Antigua between now and June will be expedited through customs when they arrive and for departure,” said Jeremy. “So if you booked a wedding or honeymoon to Antigua through a travel agency, your travel agent will give you all the details on how to receive these services and courtesies.”
Jeremy says the country offers a particular travel experience not often found in neighboring islands, and that is what sets them apart as an ideal location.
“One of things that’s special and unique about Antigua and Barbuda compared to other Caribbean islands is I personally think we offer an authentic Caribbean experience,” she said. “Although we’re pretty developed, when you come to Antigua you feel like you’re on an island with that authentic feel. The people are warm and friendly, and very hospitable, we have amazing cuisine and amazing resorts, and Antigua has a little bit of everything for everyone.”
