West Indies left-arm spinner, Akeal Hosein, has returned to Melbourne Renegades for the last two games of their Big Bash League season.

The 30-year-old Trinidadian, will replace 22-year-old off-spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman whose campaign has been cut short due to a disagreement with the Afghanistan Cricket Board.

Last season, for Renegades, Hosein snatched 13 wickets in nine appearances with an economy rate of 6.46 as the team reached the knockout phase.

“Akeal made a real impact with our team last year. He bowled economically including in the power-plays and was a wicket-taker for us too,” said Renegades General Manager, James Rosengarten.

Hosein joins a side that has struggled this season, taking a single win in seven outings lying second from the bottom of the eight teams.

While they have not yet been eliminated from the knockout stage, Renegades would need to win their remaining three games, in order to change the results and advance.

Hosein will begin his campaign against Stars in the Melbourne derby on Jan. 13 before battling Sydney Thunder four days later.

He was part of the West Indies squad, which beat England 3-2 in last month’s five-match T20 International series in the Caribbean, picking up six wickets.
