Two retaliatory goals within three minutes at the edge of fulltime against Barbados Soccer Academy (BSA) halted the run of these league leaders causing them to settle for joint front position in the Barbados Football Premiere League competition.
Zeco Edmee, a national striker, and Daniel Rowe netted twice for Clayton’s Kola Tonic Notre Dame within 180 seconds just before the final whistle to end a match-up with BSA at 2-2 Sunday at the Wildey Astroturf.
While Notre Dame did not elevate themselves much up the points ladder by earning this surprise draw, the last-gasp goals of their players ensured that BSA leadership in Zone One of the league was neutralized to a joint first place position with Weymouth Wales on eight points from four games each.
BSA had opened their account in seconds of the kick-off thanks to a right foot shot from striker Kevin Samuels. The second goal came in the 25th minute off a penalty taken by Noah Nicholas.
But the Dames’ answer to BSA proved to be more dramatic that Samuels’ first goal.
Captain Edmee headed a cross in the six-yard box into the BSA net with three minutes left in the game. Then in what seemed like the blink of an eye Rowe, a substitute in the 65th minute, blasted a 30-yards freekick into the BSA net to end the game 2-all.
Notre Dame still languish in third position in this six-member grouping with five points from four matches.
Weymouth Wales earned their joint leadership position with a 2-0 win over Brittons Hill United in another Sunday fixture at the same turf.
In Zone Two Empire Club still held the lead with six points from two matches played up to Sunday.
Zone Two fixtures are set for during the week.
The Barbados Football Association Premier League runs until April next year.
