Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and Christopher (MC Wassy) Bowen are the grand marshals for the 2013 West Indian American Day Carnival parade. They will join the renowned West Indian American Day Carnival Association (WIADCA) as they present New York’s “Greatest Show on Earth” under the theme: Celebrate our Caribbean Pride and Culture for the 46th Annual Caribbean Carnival Festival to be held throughout the Labor Day weekend, Thursday, Aug. 29 – Monday, Sept. 2.
Fresh from several well-attended media events, to include a most recent season launch at Brooklyn Borough Hall.
“WIADCA’s vision reflects a renewed commitment to work together while acknowledging a common and shared heritage. Sponsored by Con Edison, Healthfirst, Guinness, WBLS 107.5FM, CIN, Delta Airlines, McDonalds, Bacardi, MCU, Caribbean Life, UFT, Brooklyn Museum, CUNY, Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Carib Beer, St. Francis College and others.”
After completing an internal administrative restructuring (to include Board of Directors and Advisory Board), WIADCA’s new President, Thomas Bailey and his team have been working diligently throughout the year to preserve the WIADCA brand, build and strengthen community &/sponsor relations and improve overall presentation and planning to ensure five days of safe, secure, fun and festive activities for all.
The new WIADCA team appreciates the continued support of its corporate sponsors, elected leadership, the NYPD, Mas’ and Steel bands and loyal fans, without them Brooklyn’s Carnival Parade would not be the tourist attraction it is today.
Additionally, there are still opportunities for new sponsorships, vending and participation available.
